🌱 Snoop's Insurance Venture, Odor Lawsuit, Kentucky Drinks
Welcome to Rise & Roll, a bi-weekly newsletter that keeps you smart, savvy, and always in the loop on the latest in cannabis.
Here’s what we have on deck for today…
Snoop Dogg backs cannabis insurance startup

Snoop Dogg's investment company Casa Verde Capital just led a $3 million funding round for Frontier Risk Group.
Frontier is a specialized insurance provider focused on offering insurance for cannabis companies. While many insurance providers shy away from the industry, Frontier is leaning in.
This investment brings their total funding to $6 million and includes a strategic partnership with Illinois Casualty Co., marking a significant entry of traditional insurance into the cannabis space.
Cannabis odor sparks lawsuit
Santa Barbara County Superior Court judge has certified a class-action lawsuit against a Carpinteria-based cannabis grower.
The suit – filed by neighboring homeowners — alleges persistent cannabis odors have diminished property values and quality of life.
The results of the lawsuit are TBD, but industry experts noted that this case has the potential to establish important precedents for cultivation operations nationwide — particularly regarding odor mitigation technologies and buffer zone requirements between cannabis facilities and residential areas.
Kentucky Senate approves cannabis-infused beverages

Kentucky senators voted 29-6 to pass SB 202, allowing hemp-derived cannabis drinks throughout the state.
The new bill limits each drink to 5 milligrams of THC and treats them like alcohol products.
While hemp businesses wanted higher THC limits and smaller tax rates (aligned with beer), this is still a huge victory in a conservative state, opening the door to other states to follow suit.
