🌱 Cannabis Labor Deal, German Launch, JPMorgan’s Support

Welcome to Rise & Roll, a bi-weekly newsletter that keeps you smart, savvy, and always in the loop on the latest in cannabis.

Here’s what we have on deck for today…

Nevada cannabis workers win big with union deal

Ayr Wellness employees in Nevada just set a new bar for cannabis workplace standards. Their groundbreaking union contract doesn't just bring armed security to dispensaries — it's packed with perks like better healthcare and flexible scheduling.

This win at three dispensaries and a delivery depot signals a bigger shift:

Cannabis workers are organizing for better conditions, and they're winning.

With UFCW racking up 418 organizing victories since 2020, cannabis businesses might want to get ahead of the curve on workplace standards rather than play catch-up later.

Aurora grows first medical cannabis in Germany

Aurora Cannabis just planted its flag in Germany with IndiMed, a new medical cannabis brand grown entirely on German soil. They're one of only three companies licensed to cultivate in the country, joining rival Tilray who launched German-grown products last November.

The timing couldn't be better — Germany recently legalized adult use and public support is growing, with 59% of Germans backing full legalization.

As Europe's largest economy leads the charge on cannabis reform, Aurora's local production puts them in prime position to serve the expanding EU market.

JPMorgan Chase eyes future in cannabis banking

JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon just dropped a game-changing hint for cannabis banking:

The financial giant would "probably" work with marijuana businesses if federal law allows it.

This signals a major shift in how Wall Street views cannabis.

Right now, most cannabis companies struggle with basic banking services. But Dimon's openness suggests a future where cannabis businesses could access the same financial tools as other industries — think:

  • Better loans

  • Lower fees

  • And simpler operations

While federal reform needs to happen first, having Chase's support could speed things up.
